The Mosaic Project®, a 501(c)(3) non­profit organization, works toward a peace­ful future by unit­ing chil­dren of diverse back­grounds, pro­vid­ing them with essen­tial com­mu­nity build­ing skills, and empow­er­ing them to become peace­mak­ers.

Our prin­ci­pal pro­gram is our unique Outdoor School which brings together 4th and 5th grade classes from schools that dif­fer markedly in socioe­co­nomic, racial, and eth­nic make-up. Our com­ple­men­tary work with youth and adults sup­ports our youngest peace­mak­ers while also enabling us to reach wider com­mu­ni­ties through schools, community-based orga­ni­za­tions, and the work­place.

Together, we cre­ate micro­cosms of the just, diverse, inclusive world we envi­sion, demon­strate that peace is pos­si­ble, and inspire action.

Unlike any other orga­ni­za­tion of which we are aware, The Mosaic Project pro­foundly reaches chil­dren in ele­men­tary school before prej­u­dice becomes entrenched. Since 2001, we have served over 7,400 4th and 5th graders in our Outdoor School. In addi­tion we have served over 1,200 high-school and col­lege stu­dents through our Youth Leadership Project, over 13,300 stu­dents through our In-School Project and over 2,500 adults through our Professional Development Project and the Mosaic Consulting Project (MCP). Our par­tic­i­pants have been pro­foundly affected by our pro­grams.
